Why not put in some early season refereeing?

NEWS
Warren Needham returned last week from his interchange with the Japan RFU, having refereed a number of pro-league teams, including Honda and Mitsubishi.

The pace and intensity of the games was amazing and a good start to the coming season, according to our President.

Gabriel Lee was rewarded for her good refereeing at the recent Oceania WRWC Qualifiers in Nandi, Fiji with the final between Australia and New Zealand.

This was a replay of the WRWC final back in 2009, refereed again by Gabriel. NZ turned the result around this time, winning well by 30-19.

Excellent results from two of our top referees!
Prem club chairmen have ratified a new ruling on substitutes this coming season with teams able to roll-on / roll-off from a list of 12 subs on their bench.

This will require the use of a 4th official and that will be explained at the Workshop. This is for the Prem grade only, in our Saturday HKRFU leagues.

If you are interested in increasing your rugby knowledge, the HKRFU is running an iRB L1 rugby coaching course this Saturday (18th August at KP). A bit late in the day,but places are still available if you would like to attend. Please contact Jane Tu at the HKRFU for additional information on jane.tu@hkrugby.com

From the 'Banged-Up Aboard' File: Former President, John Findlay and Wife, were slightly injured in a rickshaw accident in Mumbai, India last Sunday night. Stiches and bruises was the result of the altercation, however both are doing well and are expected back in HK, end of this week.

A BIG "thank you" to all the guys and gals who supported the recent U19 ARFU RWC Qualifiers at KP. Thanks came in from Ross Mitchell (Sec Gen ARFU), Ian McMahon (GM of the HKRFU) and the organizer of the gig, Robbie McRobbie (HKRFU). Job well done and a thank you from me as well!
